Returning English Instructor Carla Indonilla Flores

 My name is Carla Indonilla Flores and I am an English Language Instructor.
Teaching is my profession and I have been teaching English for about 24 years. It is my passion to teach English. This is my second time teaching several members in Songguk Club House. In this second time, my heart is all out to assist some members of Songguk Club House who are interested to develop their English language skills

 I came to Songguk Club House with a task of helping several members who are willing to learn English as their second language. I already had a plan of teaching them short stories, conversation, and grammar. In fact, I had prepared series of short stories taken from a trusted source. I was sure that they would understand the words, the expressions, the sentences, and the story itself. The responses that I got from them were very rewarding because they could answer the questions during the rapid question and answer portion and they could also tell the story without the help of Korean translation. It  was such a good feeling when I could hear them doing the the Q and A portion and narrate the short story to their partners and even to the whole class. It wasn't hard for me to teach them using short stories and reinforced it with question and answer activity, and letting them narrate the whole story afterwards. It's really like learning to speak the English language naturally.

 I didn't continue to teach grammar because it  takes time and they need to analyze the structure of the sentence which I think that I will give them difficultly in speaking. I was right because they like the short stories more than the grammar rules.
 I was fascinated by their cooperative spirit. They were responsible for doing even just a little errand. There was unity of the members  in my English class.
 They always bade their goodbyes with a warm smile on their faces.

 Overall, this teaching experience, though it was limited, had been of great value for me because it gives me an encouragement to render my teaching services with all my heart and soul continually. Additionally, I was able to teach with students who differed significantly in terms of age and learning needs. Moreover, I was encouraged by their interest, participation, and cooperativeness. Teaching English with all my heart and soul to several members of Songguk Club House is the most rewarding job in the world.

 저는 영어강사 칼라 인도닐라 프로레스(Carla Indonilla Flores)입니다. 가르치는 것은 제 직업이고 약 24년 동안 영어를 가르쳐왔습니다. 저는 열정적으로 영어를 가르칩니다. 이번에 송국클럽하우스에서 두 번째로 여러 회원들을 가르치는 일을 했습니다. 두 번째 수업에서 저는 영어 실력을 키우고 싶어하는 송국클럽하우스 회원들을 돕기 위해  최선을 다했습니다. 

 저는 영어를 제2언어로 배우려는 몇몇 회원들을 돕는다는 과제를 안고 송국클럽하우스에 왔습니다. 회원들에게 단편소설, 대화, 그리고 문법을 가르칠 계획이었습니다. 신뢰할 수 있는 출처에서 가져온 단편소설 시리즈를 준비했습니다. 송국 회원들이 단편소설에서 나오는 단어, 표현, 문장 그리고 이야기 자체를 이해할 것이라고 확신했습니다. 송국 회원들로부터 받은 답변들은 매우 보람 있었습니다. 회원들이 질문을 하면 대답을 할 수 있었고, 한국어 번역 도움 없이도 이야기 할 수 있었습니다. 그것뿐만 아니라, 단편소설의 내용을 기억해서 파트너와 모든 사람에게 영어로 이야기를 할 수 있었습니다. 모든 회원들이 그렇게 할 수 있을 때 너무 좋았습니다. 이렇게 단편소설들과 많은 질문들을 통해 가르치는 것은 어렵지 않았습니다. 영어를 자연스럽게 말하는 방법을 배울 수 있을 것이라고 생각합니다. 

 문법은 시간이 오래 걸리고 문장의 구조를 분석해야 하기 때문에 길게 가르치지 않았습니다. 회원들이 영어를 말하기가 힘겨울 것 같아서 그랬습니다. 회원들이 문법 규칙보다 단편소설을 더 선호하기에 틀리지 않은 선택이었습니다. 저는 그들의 협동심에 매료되었습니다. 그들은 사소한 일도 도맡아 하며, 우리 영어 시간에는 회원들 사이에  단합이 있었습니다. 
 회원들은 항상 따뜻한 미소로 저에게 인사를 했습니다. 

 전반적으로 이 경험은 제한적이기는 했지만 저에게 큰 가치가 있었습니다. 왜냐하면 제가 가르치는 일에 혼신의 힘을 다할 수 있는 응원을 받았기 때문입니다. 나이와 학습 욕구가 크게 다른 학생들과 함께 수업할 수 있었습니다. 더욱이 학생들의 관심과 참여, 협동심에 큰 힘을 얻었습니다. 송국클럽하우스는 여러 회원들에게 정성껏 영어를 가르치는 것은 세상에서

가장 보람있는 일입니다.
